The Kitten & Her Shadow
In a small house on the edge of town, there was a playful kitten named Lulu. Lulu was in possession of a shiny, glittering toy ball - the prettiest she had ever seen. She cherished it above all her other toys and would play with it for hours on end.
One sunny day, Lulu took her toy ball to the hallway where sunlight streamed through the windows. As she playfully batted at her toy, she noticed something fascinating. There on the floor, illuminated by the sun, was another shiny ball, mirroring the motions of her own. Thinking it was another toy, Lulu decided she must have it so she could have twice the fun.
She pounced toward the shimmering reflection, hoping to catch the second ball. But in her excitement and haste, she let go of her real toy ball. It rolled swiftly and fell down a deep, dark staircase to the basement, lost among old boxes and cobwebs.
Lulu looked around in dismay. Her precious ball was gone, and the illusionary one had disappeared with the shifting sunlight. She had lost her treasured toy for the sake of a mere shadow.
