The Elephant & the Hummingbird |
In a lush forest, there lived an enormous elephant named Elara. She walked with authority and grace, her footsteps resonating across the terrain. Everyone in the forest acknowledged her presence and respected her.
One day, while Elara was taking her usual stroll, she suddenly felt a peculiar sensation on her ear. A tiny hummingbird named Lila had gotten entangled in the thick hairs of Elara's ear. The tiny bird was fluttering frantically trying to free itself. With a gentle blow from her trunk, Elara freed the hummingbird. Lila, relieved and grateful, said, “Thank you, mighty Elara. I am indebted to you.”

Elara chuckled softly and responded, “Little one, what could you possibly do for me? But your gratitude is accepted. Fly free and be cautious.”
Several sunrises later, Elara found herself in grave danger. Hunters had set up a massive trap, and Elara was caught in a heavy net that she couldn’t break free from. The more she struggled, the more the ropes tightened around her. The forest echoed with her trumpeting cries.
Lila heard the desperate cries and rushed to the scene. Seeing Elara ensnared and distressed, Lila swiftly flew around the net, searching for a weak point. With her slender beak, she began to untie the knots one by one. The process was time-consuming, but Lila was determined. The hunters were approaching, but just in time, the last knot was untied.
With her newfound freedom, Elara charged, chasing the hunters away. She then turned to Lila, her eyes filled with gratitude. “You, Lila, the tiniest creature in this forest, have saved me, the largest. I was mistaken to think you couldn't help me. I am truly in your debt.”
Lila smiled and replied, “Every creature, no matter how small, has its own strength and purpose.”
